George's experience hosting a car on Turo

@ggirtsou
My experience with Turo (car borrowing marketplace), as a host.

* Onboarding: after you create your listing, you have to participate in a recorded webinar. Process felt a bit long, but thorough.
* Dynamic pricing: uses a number of variables to price your vehicle, daily. For my car this daily price was too low
* Transaction earnings: 2 options: 60% (no excess) or 75% of earnings (£250 excess)
* Support: phone but help site and FAQ are broken (Forbidden and 404 Not found). No way to contact support other than finding their number on Google. Followed the steps from app and website - both cases got error when trying to contact support.
* Accident: they push you to resolve repairs directly with the driver, which they have no interest in doing.
* Platform: they sell a lot of extras to the driver. I got £71 and the driver paid almost £300 to Turo for a 2 day trip. Got the car back damaged and it’s really not worth the hassle.

Feels not good value for what you give and effort you put in. It’s a lot of time to prepare everything, fuel up the vehicle, wash it inside out and be available for the drivers. I decided not to continue with them.

Update, I responded to their claims email and it bounced saying I’m not authorised to email and then it also says to email them at the same address. Unacceptable…
