Water: a simple, complex and precious gift

@ggirtsou
I am curious about a wide variety of topics and always like to learn. Today I was thinking about something simple that we take for granted, but it’s also very complex precious gift: water.

71% of earth is covered in water.
97% of it is saltwater, 2% is frozen and <1% is accessible.

Cities have processes to source, filter and chemically treat it. Then it travels through miles of pipes until it reaches our tap.

The trouble is as soon as it goes down the drain (even if it was fresh clean water) it becomes waste water the cycle starts again.

The water that evaporates or that goes into the ocean might take hundreds or thousands of years for natural processes to filter back into that specific underground source, which is a problem because water is local resource and transporting it is expensive because it’s very heavy.
