Timeleft vs DayOfUs: Two Matched Dinners Compared

Timeleft vs DayOfUs compared: both seat you at a small matched dinner. Group size, when you get the restaurant, pricing and which one runs where you are.

Published by KF.Social. Our comparisons explain where our own service fits; they are not independent reviews.

Timeleft and DayOfUs do the same thing in the same shape: you answer some questions, an algorithm puts you on a table of people you have not met, and somebody else books the restaurant. That makes this a genuinely close comparison rather than two different products being forced into one. The differences that matter are how much notice you get, what you pay for and where each one actually runs. Every fact below is quoted from their own live pages, read on 21 September 2026.

How Timeleft works

Timeleft matches you into a small dinner, described on its homepage as "five new faces over good food", which is six at the table. It mixes people on age range, personality and language preferences, and it says plainly what it is not: "No bios. No swiping. No planning." Its homepage puts it in 52 countries and more than 200 cities, and its FAQ says events run in the local language and English, with the option to pick one or both when you book.

The pricing is a subscription, in one, three or twelve month periods. Its help centre says the available options vary by region and are displayed during sign-up, and no figure is published on the site. Food and drinks are paid at the venue. On timing, the homepage is explicit: "We reveal the location and your group just before." Timeleft also runs drinks, coffee and walks, not only dinners.

How DayOfUs works

DayOfUs is the same idea with a different clock. Its homepage offers to seat you with "5 strangers over dinner, matched by algorithm": you take a personality test, book a seat at a specific dated event, and turn up. It runs brunch as well as dinner, and it suggests after-dinner drinks nearby and supplies conversation starters, which is a small thing that some people will want and others will find excruciating.

The one clear operational difference is when you learn where you are going. DayOfUs says the restaurant address is sent the night before the event. Timeleft reveals it "just before". If knowing the night before matters to you, and for anyone arranging childcare, a lift home or an early start it will, that is a real advantage to DayOfUs and it is worth saying so plainly.

On group size its own page is not quite consistent, offering "5 strangers" in the headline and "a dinner with 4 to 6 strangers" further down, so the honest summary is about five or six other people rather than a fixed number. DayOfUs is operated by Linxura Inc. of Toronto, and neither company publishes a headline price on the homepage we read.

Where each one runs, which decides most of this

Reach is the difference that settles it for most readers, and here Timeleft is simply much larger. Fifty two countries and 200+ cities against a city list: on 21 September 2026 the DayOfUs homepage listed New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto, Vancouver, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, Osaka, London, Sydney and Singapore.

Both list London. So if you are in London the choice is a real one, and if you are somewhere neither of them serves, the comparison is academic and Timeleft is the one more likely to have arrived already.

The honest summary

These are close enough that the tie-breaker is rarely the product. It is whether the nights offered suit you, whether you want the restaurant confirmed the night before or an hour or two before, and whether you would rather pay once for one evening or hold a subscription for a run of them. A subscription is better value if you intend to go most weeks and worse value if you are only going once.

Where KF.Social fits

KF.Social is the same shape again, narrowed to one city. We run in London only, on Thursdays at 7pm London time; check the current dates and area before booking. You book a single dinner rather than a membership: 15 pounds for the seat, published before you pay, which covers the matching and not the meal. You pay the restaurant for your own food and drink, exactly as you would with either of the other two.

A table is six people, and a seventh booking is not turned away because we open another table of six. The restaurant lands about six hours before, and who you are sitting with about an hour before, when the group chat opens. Booking closes six hours before. Cancel 72 hours or more ahead and the 15 pounds goes back to your card, and inside 72 hours it does not come back. If the table does not run, everyone is refunded in full whatever the clock says. Booking gates on two things only: being 18 or over, and having paid.

Where the other two beat us, and it is not close: Timeleft runs in more than 200 cities and DayOfUs in more than a dozen, and we run in one. If you do not live in London and are not coming to London, neither our price nor our table size matters. Timeleft also offers drinks, coffee and walks, and DayOfUs offers brunch, where we only do dinner. And DayOfUs gives you the address the night before, which is more notice than our six hours.

What we are better at is the narrow case: one city, paid for one night at a time, with the timings published. See what is running in London.

Common Questions

Is DayOfUs the same as Timeleft?
They are very close in shape. Both use a personality questionnaire to match you onto a small dinner table with people you have not met, and both book the restaurant for you. The practical differences are the notice you get on the venue, DayOfUs says the night before and Timeleft says just before, the pricing model, a subscription at Timeleft against booking a single event at DayOfUs, and reach, where Timeleft is much larger.
Which one tells you the restaurant sooner?
DayOfUs. Its homepage says the restaurant address is sent the night before the event, while Timeleft says it reveals the location and your group just before. If you need to arrange a lift, childcare or an early start, that extra notice is a genuine advantage.
How many people are at the table?
Timeleft describes its dinners as "five new faces over good food", which is six at the table. DayOfUs is less consistent on its own homepage, offering "5 strangers" in one place and "4 to 6" in another, so expect about five or six other people rather than a fixed number.
Do Timeleft and DayOfUs both run in London?
Yes. Timeleft lists 52 countries and more than 200 cities, and London appeared in the DayOfUs city list read on 21 September 2026. Outside London, Timeleft is in far more places, so for most readers it is the one more likely to operate where they are.
Which is cheaper?
Neither publishes a headline price on the pages read, so this cannot be answered with figures honestly. The models differ: Timeleft sells a subscription in one, three or twelve month periods, so it is better value the more often you go, while DayOfUs is booked per event. With both, your food and drinks are paid at the venue on top.
Is there an option that is only one city?
KF.Social runs in London only, on Thursdays at 7pm London time, subject to the published schedule, at 15 pounds a seat per dinner with food and drink paid at the restaurant. That narrowness is a real disadvantage if you are anywhere else, and the reason it exists is that a single city is easier to fill a table of six in on a set night.
