KF.Social has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and any content or conduct that sexualises, exploits, or endangers a child is strictly prohibited on our service. We remove it, we terminate the accounts responsible, and we report it to the relevant authorities.

Our Commitment

These are the published child safety standards of KF.Social, a social application operated by KaneFilous Limited, a company registered in Ireland. KF.Social is available on Google Play (package com.kanefilous.app), on the Apple App Store, and on the web.

KF.Social exists to help adults make real friendships and meet people in person. Protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation is a condition of operating that service, not an optional extra. We prohibit Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) in every form, on every surface of our product, without exception and regardless of the intent claimed by the person responsible.

This document sets out what is prohibited, how we prevent and detect it, how anyone can report it to us, how we respond, and how to reach our child safety point of contact. It applies to everyone who uses KF.Social, everywhere we operate.

Who These Standards Cover

In these standards, a child or minor means any person under the age of 18, regardless of the age of majority or age of sexual consent in their jurisdiction.

These standards apply to all content and conduct on KF.Social, including profiles, display names and handles, profile photos, posts, photos, videos, stories, comments, private messages, group chats, voice and video calls, community pages, and any real-world meetup organised through the service. They apply equally to content generated by a person and to content that is artificially generated, edited, or manipulated.

Prohibited Conduct

The following are strictly prohibited on KF.Social. Each one results in immediate account termination and, where required or appropriate, a report to law enforcement and the relevant child protection authorities.

Child Sexual Abuse Material

  • Creating, uploading, storing, sharing, requesting, linking to, advertising, or soliciting Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) in any format, including images, video, audio, text, and live streams.
  • Computer-generated CSAM, including material produced, edited, or altered using artificial intelligence, image generation tools, animation, drawing, or any editing technique. Synthetic material is treated exactly as real material.
  • Material that depicts a real child, an identifiable child, or a fictional child in a sexual context, and material that has been edited to place a real child into sexual content.

Sexualisation of Minors

  • Any content that sexualises a child, presents a child as an object of sexual interest, or emphasises a child's body in a sexual manner, whether or not the child is clothed and whether or not the content is explicit.
  • Sexual, romantic, or suggestive commentary directed at or about a child, including sexualised comments left on otherwise innocuous images of children.
  • Sharing otherwise ordinary images of children for a sexual purpose, or collecting and curating such images.

Grooming and Predatory Contact

  • Grooming: building a relationship, trust, or emotional connection with a child in order to sexually abuse, exploit, or traffic them, including on the service and including where the intended abuse would take place elsewhere.
  • Any sexual communication with a child, any request for sexual content from a child, and any attempt to move a conversation with a child to another platform for a sexual purpose.
  • Arranging or attempting to arrange an in-person meeting with a child for a sexual purpose.
  • Adults misrepresenting their age or identity in order to make contact with children.

Sextortion, Trafficking, and Related Harms

  • Sextortion: threatening to publish, share, or otherwise use a child's intimate imagery to coerce them into producing further content, providing money, or performing any act.
  • Child sex trafficking: recruiting, advertising, soliciting, arranging, or facilitating the commercial sexual exploitation of a child, and any offer to pay for or provide sexual contact with a child.
  • Sexual extortion or coercion of a child by any means, including blackmail, threats, deception, or manipulation.
  • Providing instructions, guidance, tools, or techniques for committing, concealing, or evading detection for any form of CSAE, and normalising, promoting, glorifying, or advocating for the sexual abuse of children.

Non-Consensual and Endangering Content

  • Sharing intimate images of a child without consent, including so-called self-generated material, and sharing intimate images that were originally created with apparent consent.
  • Content that puts a child at risk of physical, sexual, or emotional harm, including content that identifies, locates, or exposes a child in a way that facilitates abuse.

There is no exception for humour, satire, artistic intent, commentary, research, education, or claimed awareness-raising. We do not weigh intent when the content or conduct falls within these prohibitions.

Age Requirements

KF.Social is not intended for or directed at children. It is not designed for use by minors and it is not marketed to them.

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use KF.Social. Every person confirms that they meet this age requirement when they sign up.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to host or attend an in-person Dinner. Dinners are real-world meetups between adults, often held in venues where alcohol is served, so they are restricted to adults.

We do not knowingly allow anyone under 16 to register. Where we identify or are notified of an account belonging to someone under the minimum age, we remove the account and delete the associated personal data. If you believe a child under 16 holds an account on KF.Social, report it using any of the routes below and we will act on it.

Prevention and Detection

We combine automated systems, human review, and product design to prevent CSAE on KF.Social:

  • Age declaration at signup - every account holder gives a date of birth and confirms they meet the minimum age, and accounts identified as belonging to underage users are removed.
  • Automated image screening - every photo uploaded to KF.Social is automatically screened for explicit and sexual content before it is published. Images that cross our rejection threshold are blocked and never become visible; images that cross the lower flag threshold are published but raised for human review. In both cases a copy is written to a private, write-once evidence store that neither we nor anyone else can delete or alter for 90 days.
  • Human moderation - a moderation team reviews reported profiles, posts, photos, comments, and messages, and reviews every image raised by the automated screen.
  • A dedicated child safety channel - reports sent to our child safety address are triaged ahead of all other correspondence, and are the fastest way to reach us about a child.
  • Account controls - every member can block another member, control who can contact and follow them, and restrict the visibility of what they post.
  • Adults-only in-person events - Dinners and other in-person meetups organised through KF.Social are restricted to members aged 18 and over.

We are direct about the limits of automated screening. Our image screening classifies sexual and explicit content. It is not a CSAM detection system: it does not match uploads against known CSAM hash sets and it does not estimate the age of people in an image. It will not catch every instance, and it is not a substitute for reports from people. Adding hash-matching against recognised industry CSAM hash sets is on our roadmap and is not yet in operation. We describe here only what we run today.

How to Report Child Safety Concerns

Anyone can report a child safety concern to us, whether or not they hold a KF.Social account. You do not need to be certain, and you will not be penalised for reporting something in good faith that turns out to be innocent.

In the app

Every profile, post, photo, comment, and chat message in KF.Social has a report option. Open the overflow menu on the item you are concerned about, choose to report it, and describe the issue. Say clearly that your report concerns a child, so that we can prioritise it. You can also block any member from their profile, which immediately stops them contacting you.

For anything involving a child, the email route below reaches our child safety team directly and is the faster of the two.

By email

Report directly to our child safety team at childsafety@kf.social. This address is monitored, is open to members, non-members, parents and guardians, child protection organisations, and law enforcement, and is available from anywhere in the world. Please include links or usernames where you can, so that we can locate the content.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. In the United Kingdom call 999. In Ireland and across the European Union call 112. In the United States call 911. Reporting to emergency services does not replace reporting to us, and reporting to us does not replace contacting the authorities.

To external authorities

You can report suspected child sexual abuse material directly to the relevant authority in your region, independently of us:

  • United Kingdom - Internet Watch Foundation (report.iwf.org.uk) and the National Crime Agency's CEOP Safety Centre (ceop.police.uk).
  • Ireland - Hotline.ie (hotline.ie) and An Garda Síochána.
  • United States - National Center for Missing & Exploited Children CyberTipline (report.cybertip.org).
  • Elsewhere - the INHOPE network of national hotlines (inhope.org).

How We Respond

Reports concerning child safety are prioritised above every other report category. When we receive one, or when our systems detect prohibited content, we take the following steps:

  1. Removal - images that our automated screen blocks are deleted before they ever become visible. Content identified through a report is removed from the service by a moderator on review.
  2. Account action - the account responsible is suspended and, where CSAE is confirmed, permanently terminated. A terminated account can no longer sign in, is invisible to other members, and cannot be messaged. Termination for CSAE is not subject to a warning, a strike system, or a second chance.
  3. Preservation - where our automated screen identifies prohibited content, a copy is written to a private, access-restricted store held separately from the live service, on a write-once basis: it is retained for at least 90 days and cannot be deleted or altered inside that window, by us or by anyone else. Access is restricted to the small number of staff who need it. We also act on preservation requests from law enforcement.
  4. Reporting to authorities - confirmed CSAM is reported to the appropriate authorities and child protection bodies, which may include the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), Hotline.ie, and national law enforcement, in line with our legal obligations in the jurisdictions where we operate.
  5. Cooperation - we respond to lawful requests from law enforcement and child protection agencies investigating child sexual abuse and exploitation, including requests to preserve material.
  6. Follow-up - we look for related accounts and content, and we act on them as well. Where we identify a terminated member returning to KF.Social under a new identity, we terminate the new account too.

Members whose accounts are actioned may challenge the decision through our internal complaint-handling route, described in our Digital Services Act transparency statement. Complaints are reviewed by staff who were not responsible for the original decision. Where CSAE is confirmed, removal and termination stand.

Our staff handle this material under procedures designed to limit exposure, and we do not retain prohibited content beyond what the law requires.

KaneFilous Limited complies with the child safety laws that apply to KF.Social in the jurisdictions where it is available. These include, without limitation:

  • United Kingdom - the Online Safety Act 2023, the Protection of Children Act 1978, and the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
  • European Union - Directive 2011/93/EU on combating the sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children and child pornography, and Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (the Digital Services Act).
  • Ireland - the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act 1998 and the Online Safety and Media Regulation Act 2022.
  • United States - 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, the reporting requirement to the NCMEC CyberTipline, in respect of users in the United States.

These standards operate alongside our Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, and our Digital Services Act transparency statement. Where these standards and any other KF.Social document appear to conflict on a question of child safety, these standards prevail.

KF.Social also complies with the Google Play Child Safety Standards policy and the Apple App Store Review Guidelines relating to child safety.

Education and Resources

Review of These Standards

We review these standards at least annually, and sooner where the law changes, where platform requirements change, or where what we learn from enforcement tells us they should be stronger. The version number and effective date at the top of this page record the current revision. Material changes are reflected here on publication.

Child Safety Point of Contact
