Your First KF Dinner: What to Expect

Nerves Are Normal

Almost everyone feels a flutter of nerves before meeting a new group for the first time. The best cure for that is knowing exactly what to expect. KF.Social dinners follow the same clear, predictable steps every time, and safety is built into each one. Here is the whole journey, from the moment you book to the morning after.

Step One: Book Your Seat

You start by booking a seat for an upcoming dinner in the app. There is one small charge at this stage: a flat Matching Fee, paid in the app through Stripe using Apple Pay or your card. That is the only payment KF.Social takes. The cost of your food and drinks on the night is paid separately, directly to the restaurant, and usually comes to around twenty to thirty pounds. You must be eighteen or over to book.

Step Two: See the Cuisine and Area Up Front

When you book, you already know the broad shape of the evening: the type of cuisine and the general area. You will not be sent somewhere unexpected or far from where you agreed to go. This lets you plan your transport and check the area is convenient for you before you commit.

Step Three: The Venue Is Revealed Three Days Before

The exact restaurant is revealed three days before the dinner. At that point you receive:

  • The name and address of the restaurant.
  • A link to the menu, so you can plan what you fancy and check it suits you.
  • Access to a group chat with the people you will be dining with.

Having the details a few days ahead means you can look up the venue, sort your route home, and arrive feeling prepared rather than rushed.

Step Four: Let Someone Know, and Arrive

Before you head out, it is always worth telling a friend or family member which area you are going to and when you expect to be back. Keep your phone charged and your own way home arranged.

When you reach the restaurant, you do not need to give your own name. Every reservation is held under the name "KF." Simply tell a member of staff, "I'm here for the KF dinner, the table's under KF," and they will show you to the group. If you would like, you can use the optional in-app "I'm here" tap to mark that you have arrived. It is entirely up to you.

Step Five: The Table Itself

You will be seated with a small group of six to eight people, matched to you by age and shared interests, so there is common ground from the start. Everyone is there for the same reason: to make new friends over a relaxed meal. A few things worth knowing:

  • You order and pay for your own food and drinks directly with the restaurant, just as you would on any night out.
  • There is no pressure to share contact details, social handles, or personal information. Share only what you are comfortable with.
  • You can leave at any time. If you ever feel uncomfortable, settle your part of the bill and head off. No explanation is owed.
  • If someone behaves inappropriately, you can report or block them from the app in a single tap, and add them to your avoid list so you are never seated with them again.

Step Six: The Morning After

After the dinner, the group chat stays available for a short while so anyone who hit it off can swap details and make plans. There is no obligation to use it. If you would rather not continue the conversation, you can simply leave the chat. If anyone made you uncomfortable on the night, this is a good moment to report or block them and add them to your avoid list.

A Few Reassurances

To put first-time nerves to rest, remember:

  • You are always in a public restaurant with a group, never meeting anyone one to one.
  • Your profile stays private until you have actually met people in person.
  • The only payment KF.Social asks for is the in-app Matching Fee. Nobody should ever ask you for a cash table fee, a bank transfer, or a payment to another guest.
  • You are in control of how much you share and how long you stay.

With the format doing the heavy lifting, your only real job on the night is to relax, enjoy good food, and see who you meet.
