Riverside has recurring recreation programmes, library events and opportunities to volunteer with City departments. Each programme has its own dates, locations and requirements, so check the current listing before you commit.
01Browse the seasonal activity guide
The City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services department publishes seasonal activity guides and registration links for classes, activities and sports, including adult leagues. Start with the current guide and check the age range, dates, fees, venue and registration status. A league may require a team or captain, while a class may accept individual registration.
02Find an event at a Riverside library
Riverside Public Library provides a current events calendar and information about its city branches. Search for an adult group, talk or creative activity, then check the branch, time, age guidance and whether registration is needed. The Main Library is downtown; other events may be in a different part of the city.
03Volunteer through the City’s Get Connected service
The City lists volunteer roles across departments and community programmes, including events, libraries, parks and community education. Review the active opportunities and contact the listed department about the task, schedule, location and any onboarding requirements. Roles and availability change over time.
04Plan for the actual location
This guide covers programmes and venues within Riverside city. It does not treat the wider Inland Empire or nearby cities as one service area. Check the exact address and your return journey before attending.
Choose an activity that already interests you. Seeing familiar faces again at a class, group or volunteer project can make it easier to begin a conversation over time.
Local programmes change. Check the organiser links above for current dates, booking and access details. Spotted something out of date? Send us a correction.
