Flint has several local ways to spend time with people around a shared interest. You might try an adult library event, join a class or ensemble, or learn a hands-on skill in a workshop. Check the current details with each organizer and choose an activity you would want to return to.

Browse adult events at the library

The Gloria Coles Flint Public Library event calendar lets you filter by adult age group and programme type, including writers groups, games, local history, performances and book events. Open the listing for the date, room and registration details. Some events are occasional, so check the live calendar rather than assuming a session repeats every week.

Join a class or ensemble at FSPA

The Flint School of Performing Arts adult programme lists routes into dance, music and theatre, from adult ballet and Pilates to ensembles and theatre classes. Its Fall registration is open at the time of writing. Compare the current level, schedule, cost and term commitment, and ask the school which classes are appropriate if you are new to the activity.

Make something at a Sloan Museum workshop

Sloan Museum of Discovery’s Adult Hobby Workshops are hands-on sessions for ages 16 and over, with beginner-friendly activities such as crafts and bookbinding. The museum normally holds workshops twice a month, but each class has its own date and limited capacity. Advance registration is required, so confirm the current topic, fee and available places before travelling.

Check the return bus before you book

MTA Flint’s primary routes serve the city into the evening. The current service page lists the last bus from downtown at 10:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, but the exact trip depends on the route and stop. Check the current timetable and rider alerts for the venue and event finish time, then plan the trip home.

Give a good activity another visit

A first session can simply help you decide whether the activity and group suit you. If they do, go again, learn a name and ask what someone is enjoying about the class or event. Returning gives you a natural way to continue a conversation without having to force an instant connection.

These are independent Flint organizations and public programmes, not KF.Social events. Dates, eligibility, fees, registration and transit service can change, so confirm with the organizer and MTA before you go.
